I too have had massive problems with 1&1 internet, a major part of the problems were caused by the indian call centre not being able to understand what I was saying and also not seeming to understand the most basic of things... the rest of the problems being caused by downtime.
I spent the best part of a year trying to get a refund from them which finally happened last week!
Within this year I have had to cancel my debit card and request a new one from the bank to stop them from taking money from my account for a service I no longer had, they also attempted to stop me transfering my domain name to another provider...
All in all, the worst service I have ever experienced, i would NEVER have any dealings with the company ever again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend people to stay away from them
