comment on journal entry: the fundamental security flaw in Mozilla browsers

I think it's laughable...
I think it's laughable that you're pointing out a bug in firefox that, incidentely, has been fixed, when there's much greater risks in internet explorer, such as the scrollbar exploit that can be found here: http://www.mikx.de/scrollbar/
Basically if you use the scrollbar on IE the site can install whatever file it wants to on your computer.
BTW if you use IE then don't go to that site!!! At least, definitely don't use the scrollbar. Though it doesn't hurt your computer, it does modify your registry and install a (blank) exe file on your system. Use Firefox instead :) [Matthew] [reply] -

Matthew: "it does modify your registry and install a (blank) exe file on your system"
I think you've been duped, Matthew. When this site failed to create a file on my system through IE I checked the source code of the page. There was nothing there except a simple and innocuous javascript scrolling routine.
What's happened is that either IE6 SP2 (default settings, btw) has removed the offending source code, or your friend is trying to spread FUD (aka Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) about IE. I think the latter is more likely.
