bookmarklets for the flickr "delete me" group

These bookmarklets reportedly no longer work in Flickr. Someone has adapted them for the new Flickr API: click here to find the new versions

Wondering what's going on with these "deleteme" tags and harsh comments on Flickr photos? This is the hallmark of the "Delete Me" group, whose members submit pictures for exposure and critique from other photographers.

The rules are as follows: ten "deleteme" votes and the photo is removed from the group. Alternatively, members may vote to "save" the image, and after ten "saveme" votes the photo is moved to a special group called "The Safe."

After placing loads of "deleteme"s and "saveme"s I got weary of typing in the tag (with the correct number), and adding the required signature in each comment (-voted as "deleteme" (from Delete me! group))

So, I have created two bookmarklets, which you can add to your bookmark bar:

In Internet Explorer, right-click on the coloured "Delete Me" link below and click "Add to Favourites." You may get a warning (because your browser has detected that it contains code). Click "Yes" (because you trust me) and then on the window that appears, select your "Links" folder and click OK. Repeat for the "Save Me" link.

Delete me!Save me!

Ensure that your Links bar is visible (Open "View" menu, click "Toolbars" and click "Links" if it not already ticked).

In Firefox, drag each of the following links up into your bookmarks bar:

Delete Me!Save Me!

Once the bookmarklet is in your Links bar you're ready to go. Browse to a photo in the Delete Me pool, write your comment and then click the bookmark. This will then add the correct tag to the photo you're browsing, add the signature and submit your comment.

Note that these bookmarklets don't work correctly in Safari and may not work at all in Opera.
